Ah, Summer…a time to take a break…maybe a little vacation…enjoy the sunshine. Ever since I was a kid, I relished summer…from the early rays of daybreak to late evening dusk, there was plenty of time to loll around and contemplate what book I would read or what flavor of ice cream to enjoy.
I’m afraid that none of that will be happening this summer. Here at home, the Southern Man and I have plenty of plans and activities to keep us busy…one of which may involve moving. We’ve been thinking about downsizing for a while and now seems the time to do it. Even though we hope to stay in our same neighborhood, the work and preparation to move is the same whether it is across town or across the country. We are certainly to the point where we want life to be simpler and less complicated.
The biggest change for me is what to do with my art practice. As most of you know, I’ve been trying to gauge what I want to do and what direction I wish to follow for some time. Moving will certainly determine an answer to some of these questions since it is likely I will have a workspace half the size of my present setup.
To help ease this transition, I am taking a pause…my monthly newsletter will be on hiatus and I will be temporarily closing my Etsy shop after July 15 (FYI - there’s a 15% off sale on select art items). There is only so many balls I can balance at one time. I will try to post on Instagram on a regular basis if you want to follow along with our moving shenanigans!
My closing image seems appropriate and the best quote I have found of late…perhaps in all of this commotion, an art path will become clear…as well as a direction for the rest of the year…I’ll keep you posted.
